I’ll Follow the Sun. PA announces solar rebate program.

by Madeline Martin on May 19, 2009

On Monday, PA Governor Ed Rendell, announced that Pennsylvania would be offering rebates to PA homeowners and small business owners who install solar energy systems in their homes and businesses.

The $100 million project will allow for rebates of up to 35% to qualified applicants on a first come, first serve basis. Governor Rendell is confident that all of the funds will be claimed “…and quickly.”

Coupled with the Federal tax credits for solar power, Pennsylvanians could save as much as 50% on their solar energy investments.

As the price of “greening” is still fairly steep (residential sized solar energy systems cost around $40,000), these types of rebates/credits create an incentive for new construction and the backing of “green” jobs.
