Federal minimum wage goes up

by Chris Erb on July 23, 2009

Effective tomorrow, July 24, 2009, the Federal Minimum Wage will increase to $7.25 per hour as part of a series of increases enacted under the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007. The previous Federal minimum wage was $6.55, although some states, including Pennsylvania, had already set a higher minimum wage. The increase for Pennsylvania employers, already at $7.15 per hour, is fairly small.
