20-year-old student Erika Scoliere who was awaiting trial for reckless homocide and aggrevated DUI charges, was ordered by an Illinois Court to wear an alcohol measuring ankle bracelet after violating her bail conditions.
Scoliere, who was involved in a collision that killed a motorcyclist in 2007, was ordered not to drink any alcohol or to be around people who were drinking. But apparently the underaged student did not only not comply with the court order, the police found pictures of her drinking, one with the caption “Erika passed out on my couch. Ha Ha Ha”, on the social site Facebook.
The circuit judge, who saw the pictures last wednesday in a court hearing, decided against jailing the 20-year-old student, saying that “I’m not going to jail her. I don’t think that serves any purpose. She has now earned the privilege of wearing the SCRAM bracelet.”
According to the Chicago Tribune, Scoliere, who was already in violation of her bond conditions for missing the ordered weekly phone check-ins with court officials, left the court room in tears accompanied by her parents.
