Erblaw is pleased to announce the addition of Gregory J. Schmidt to our team. Greg will serve Of Counsel to The Erb Law Firm, PC, and focus his practice on business immigration and taxation.
Greg has been living in Germany since 1988. He was born and grew up in the United States. Greg received his Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor with honors degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At law school he studied business, international, and tax law and was Managing Editor of the North Carolina Journal of International Law & Commercial Regulation.
After graduation, Greg practiced law from 1985 to 1988 in the Real Estate & Financial Institutions section of a large law firm in Dallas, Texas. He came to Germany in 1988 on a DAAD scholarship for international lawyers, participating in a ten-month program introducing foreign lawyers to the German legal system. From 1989 to 1997 he was the Director of US Investments at a German asset management firm in Bad Homburg. In 1997 he acquired the US asset management business of his employer and established his own asset management company. Greg established his law office in Frankfurt in 2001.
Greg is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Rechtsanwaltskammer Frankfurt am Main (for US law only), the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the American Bar Association (ABA), including the Real Property, Probate & Trust and the Tax Sections. He is fluent in English and German.
